Frequently asked questions
You should be comfortable in the water, able to swim a little and float without panicking. You do not need to be a strong swimmer. We stay close the whole time, in water where you can stand, and build your confidence wave by wave.
Completely. Most people who come to us have never caught a wave in their life. We start in gentle, waist-deep water and only go further when you’re ready. Your instructor is beside you for every single wave.
Just a swimsuit and a towel. We provide the rest: wetsuit, handboard, fins, everything. Bring sunscreen and the will to get a little salty.
The ocean decides, and we listen. If conditions aren’t safe or right for your level, we’ll reschedule or offer you a credit, no fuss. Your session is never wasted.
A private lesson is yours. Up to 3 people, +€30 each. Same instructor, same focus, just shared with the people you want beside you.
A private lesson lasts 2 hours, including about 15 minutes on the sand for a warm-up, explanation and exercises before you go in. It is one to one, built entirely around your level and pace. A single lesson is €70, and packs of 3 (€195) and 5 (€300) work out cheaper per session.
Bodysurf is riding the wave with your own body, with no board between you and the water. It is the oldest and purest form of surfing: before the surf leash arrived in the early 1970s, nearly every surfer was a bodysurfer too. You wear a pair of swim fins to catch the wave and a handplane to lift your chest and glide. Surfing puts a board between you and the sea. Bodysurf takes it away.
Lessons are led by Henrique, our founder and a national bodysurf vice-champion, along with the team. The session is about you and the sea, not about him.
Private lessons are based at Praia da Sereia, Costa da Caparica. We can also go to other beaches such as Carcavelos, Guincho, Sintra or Ericeira, depending on the conditions and your level, with a travel cost that depends on the beach. Get in touch and we will sort out the details.
