Frequently asked questions
You should be comfortable in the water — able to swim a little and float without panicking. You don’t need to be strong, just at ease. We stay close, in water where you can stand.
Completely. Most people who come to us have never caught a wave in their life. We start in gentle, waist-deep water and only go further when you’re ready. Your instructor is beside you for every single wave.
Most people do. You’ll be surfing with others by the end of the first wave — group sessions have a way of turning strangers into the people you wave at on the beach.
Just a swimsuit and a towel. We provide the rest — wetsuit, handboard, fins, everything. Bring sunscreen and the will to get a little salty.
The ocean decides, and we listen. If conditions aren’t safe, we’ll reschedule or offer you a credit — no fuss. Your session is never wasted.
Bodysurf is riding the wave with your own body, with no board between you and the water. It is the oldest and purest form of surfing: before the surf leash arrived in the early 1970s, nearly every surfer was a bodysurfer too. You wear a pair of swim fins to catch the wave and a handplane to lift your chest and glide. Surfing puts a board between you and the sea. Bodysurf takes it away.
Group lessons are €40 per person, and a pack of 5 (€150) works out cheaper per session. They run on Saturdays at Praia da Sereia, Costa da Caparica.
Yes. Everything you need is included: handplane, swim fins and wetsuit, plus coaching in the water for the full session.
